Bikes, Training Wheels, St. Patricks Day, and impressing the neighbors...

One of Ella's favorite things right now is riding her big girl bike.  Most of the time she has ridden it around our house, but since she is getting so big, riding in the house is not the wisest thing.  Especially, with little Addy trying to walk.  One quick turn and Addy would be wiped out.

She is getting so brave that she decided to try to go without her training wheels.  She gave it a good try and made it about half of a block (with a lot of help from Daddy).  She did great, but she thought it would be best to put them back on.  We went for a spin around the block with the wheels back on for good measure.

That was Saturday.  Sunday was the annual NE Portland St. Patrick's Day Parade.  The Parade's origination is a really funny story.  The short version is that a boyfriend was trying to impress his future father-in-law.  The father-in-law was mostly Irish, so the young man organized a St. Patrick's Day Parade to wow him.  More than twenty-five years later Mr. Slavik (the boyfriend, we call him O'Slovik for the event) is still organizing the annual event.

It is actually a pretty impressive parade.  It has bands, fire trucks, floats, and lots of walking participants.  This year the Oscar Mayer Wiener truck actually showed up.  The kids loved the parade (I think the adults did too)  Lots to see and lots of candy...

Friends at the parade..

 Lindsay tackles a sucker...

It was also good to hang out with good friends.

Finally, Jason had to take everything out of the inside of Lucy (our 1972 Chevelle).  She had a run in with a tree a few months back and we are working on getting her fixed.  For all of the "unique" things in Portland, you don't find many yards with car parts strung all over them....we are sure the neighbors were impressed.

Addy did the supervising...

We did find some time to hang out in the front yard.  A busy, but fun weekend!

(This was cute until Addy decide the dirt in the pot was lunch..)

So the story starts with a new camera lens...

Ok, it actually doesn't start there, it actually starts with Jason needing a hobby.  So his wonderful wife, found a groupon for a one day photography class and thought "that should do it"...Five hours into the class and Jason is determined he needs a new camera lens for their camera...you make your own conclusions to how good of a deal the groupon was...  8 )

The story then proceeds......we went for a walk.....strike that....we went on an adventure that was focused on rolling and walking.

Two heroic ladies striking out in their uniforms...(guess what the official color of the Lacey Clan is these days)...
  Addy with her rugged cart..

 Ella on her trusted stead..
Together they can conquer all..
They traveled far through numerous dangers and end up at...
(for those of you not local our NE Portland...this is the end of our block)
When all was said and done, we had two tired girls and two happy parents that felt like they had accomplished something.

The really good news for those who follow that Lacey family is that Jason has officially found a hobby and hopefully Jason and Amy will blog more because there will be more pictures.  That is if they pass the review panel...Addy is a tough critic.  She wants to make sure the camera isn't added any pounds.
This actually the face the Adelyn Joy makes when she smells...Maybe too many stinky diapers have tainted her.

Love ya all!

Feeling nostalgic....

I started looking at pictures from Adelyn's first few months of life and have such sweet memories!!  She is only 7 months old now, and still so sweet, but her life has gone SO quickly!  I'm going to miss all of this.  I look at these pictures and just want to cuddle and kiss that tiny baby.  I'll have to give her extra cuddles when she wakes up from her nap.  We love you, Adelyn!!  You have been, and still are, a JOY.
